HJ3 Named a Winner in the 2012 Arizona Innovation Challenge
On Tuesday, May 15th The Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) announced that out of more than 300 applicants this year, HJ3 Composite Technologies was one of 6 companies to win its Spring 2012 Arizona Innovation Challenge.
The ACA awards $3 million annually to the most promising technology ventures that participate in the Arizona Innovation Challenge, with individual awards ranging from $100,000 to $250,000. The grant money is intended to support company growth.
HJ3 is honored to be one of 3 cleantech companies to win this Spring, and is the only company overall to have received the award two consecutive years. Last year’s 2011 Innovation Grant had a significant impact on business growth. “Winning the grant has allowed us to accelerate our 18-month plan for launching the completed CarbonSeal brand down to 9-months. In addition to the success of the launch, we have added additional production, sales and marketing staff that have greatly contributed to our growth,” says Jim Butler, C.E.O. of HJ3 Composite Technologies.
Now, with the receipt of the 2012 grant, HJ3 will be able to work on commercializing its new brand offering, FireSeal. Butler states, “We are truly honored to have received this award, and have enjoyed being a client of the ACA this past year. We appreciate the enormous support and look forward to giving back to the community as we continue to grow.”
The AIC grant program is the largest of its kind in the nation, which the Arizona Commerce Authority is hoping will become a base for innovation and growth in the state’s economy. Already, Arizona has been named the 10th best state in the country for business, and hopes to move up quickly in the coming years.
