HJ3 Composite Technologies takes home the title of National Winner in Chemicals and Advanced Materials, and the People’s Choice Award in this year’s 2013 Cleantech Open Global Forum.

HJ3 Composite Technologies takes home the titles of National Winner in “Chemicals and Advanced Materials”, and “People’s Choice” in this year’s 2013 Cleantech Open Accelerator, and finishes 2nd in the grand prize for Cleantech Company of the Year.
The announcements were made in San Jose at the Cleantech Open Global Forum, the “Academy Awards of Cleantech,” which marked the grand finale of this year’s Cleantech Open Accelerator and the culmination of the 2013 Cleantech Open Global Ideas Competition. The grand prize winner, PowWow Energy, was chosen from among the five National Category winners:

  • Air-Water-Waste — Polymer Green (Western region), which has developed the first available clean solution to process landfill waste plastic.
  • Energy Generation — Helion Energy (Pacific Northwest region), which is dedicated to making practical and affordable fusion energy a reality.
  • Green Building — Bio-Adhesive Alliance (Southeast region), which produces low-cost and durable adhesive from swine manure that can be utilized as a substitute to petroleum-based asphalt.
  • Chemicals and Advanced Materials — HJ3 Composite Technologies (Rocky Mountain region), which manufactures, engineers, and installs advanced composite systems that have been used on over 10,000 successful applications worldwide.
  • Information and Communications Technologies — PowWow Energy (Western region).

This year’s Cleantech Open Accelerator attracted over 300 initial companies nation-wide, who competed among 8 regions in the competition that began in April, 2013. In October, 22 regional semi-finalists were chosen, including HJ3 Composite Technologies and Grannus, LLC from Tucson, AZ, who all commemorated in Silicon Valley for the annual Global Forum this week. Grannus won the Sustainability award in the Cleantech Rocky Mountain Regional Finals, and placed second runner up in the National Sustainability company competition this week.
